Wake (Wakian: Vakkern), officially the Republic of Wake (Wakian: Nakurmaț Vakkerna), is a sovereign state located in Eastern Wechall, bordered by Akraine to the west, Lungary to the northwest, Efterland to the north, Jargery to the northeast, and Helvenia to the southeast. Its capital and most populous city is Malat, located near the Akrainian border.

Wake, and the nearby Helvenia, were unified as the Kingdom of Alkerkia in the 13th-century. Following a coup d'état in the 17th-century, the kingdom was turned into the Alkerkian Empire. After a second coup d'état in the 19th-century, the empire was struck down, and the nation was turned into a socialist pseudo-republic. Socialism was struck down in the late 20th-century, when Wake became an independent state and established itself as a democratic unitary parliamentary republic.

Wake has a population of 5.8 million, which is evenly spread throughout the country. Of the population, 84% identify as ethnically Wakian. There is a large Helvenian community who have resided in the area for generations, numbering about 9% and primarily residing along the border and on the coast. The remaining 7% are primarily of immigrant origin, many of which come from Akraine. The national and sole official language of the nation is Wakian, an Alkerk language, which is spoken natively by about 90% of the population. Helvenian is a nationally recognized minority language. While the Wakian constitution advocates for the freedom of religion, Wakians largely adhere to the Wechallian Catholic Church.
